The First Note

When enrolling a young child into our program, you can expect them to be exposed to all the basics they will need to independently read music, get to know various instruments in order for them to make an informed decision of what they would like to play one day, and all the while doing this by having a lot of fun and playing games. They will need a semester to a year to complete the beginner theory course, hereafter they will start reading and playing pieces independently. An older student (8-80 year old) is taught in a more structured, formal way and is taught the basics theory they will need for the instrument they will be playing, hence they start playing pieces from the second lesson already.

Teach In Harmony

We are presently a team of two educators who teach concurrently and work from the same curriculum and ideas resulting from previous and present experience and research.

The Future Sounds Good

These past six years in Bloemfontein have been phenomenal, as we've seen an influx of students who start from very young, master the basics, become independent music readers, develop a passion for music and continue steadfastly. They're able to join various faculties for more advanced and in-depth lessons, one being right around the corner at 'Sentraal Musiek Akademie'. We also have the wonderful opportunity of being in connection with Alice Labuschagne's Kindermusik groups and we are now able to build on the musical exposure these children have had from birth and ground them in the theoretical and practical basics of instrumentation.

Founder’s Notes

While teaching at a Primary School, the opportunity arose to continue in a musical direction and study B.Mus. The 7years of educational experience of children 4 - 13 years old was pivotal in my musical outlook of making music fun, practical and teaching by play. I have the opportunity of channelling my passion for teaching into music and I love seeing even the youngest child loving music theory and desiring to learn more about playing their chosen instrument.
